Not Always so Merry

We wish you a merry..WAIT! while the holidays are festive and bright for some, they aren’t for everyone. Many foster children do not have warm and fuzzy feelings about the holidays; In fact, they can be downright depressing. While we are hanging mistletoe, many children are just looking for a place to hang their coats.

If you are a foster parent, be sure to address any feelings (good bad and in-between) he or she may be feeling. There is of course a caveat to that as well. Biological children might not understand special attention that is given to foster children so it is important to include them in activities and to show them just as much affection. After all, children are children and the last thing you want is for them to harbor resentment toward you or your foster child. Let’s make the most of this holiday season for everyone and spread joy!
