On the Road Again...and Other Updates

One of our TFC children just got his license...way to go!

We have welcomed several new families into our TFC program. We recently welcomed five new families and we have several more who will be certified any day now!

We are excited about the new families as well as our TFC veterans and their hearts in willing to serve our children. We are truly grateful.

Cool Announcements

One of our foster children (teen) has a significant other, another just got her driver’s license and  another foster child is now on ‘Rainbow Status’ at school and is performing very well at school with 100 % on her exams.

Some of our children were in Christmas plays this holiday season as well. We look forward to hearing about their performances and how well they did!

Holiday Cheer

Our children and families had a blast at our TFC and Arc NCR holiday parties. They were so encouraged and appreciative! 

We would like to thank Gene Dobbins and Sam Laws at Mountain Christian Church in Abingdon, MD, The Scholz family and APG staff, Samantha Romero and the Bel Air High School Jazz Band for all of the amazing things that they have done to make the holiday special for our foster families!

Great News!

We have lots of great news and are proud of our foster families. Here are a few recent updates:

• A.C. went home – yay for him!
• The Kings achieved placement stability
• The Harvey’s are welcoming a natural parent into their home this year for Thanksgiving
• G.H. (Kindergarten) has mastered 20 sight words, knows her upper and lower case letters, and knows the sounds of 24/26 letters.
• AJ.C. was selected based on his achievements to attend an overnight two-day getaway that fostered his education, socio/emotional skills, and vocational desires.

Our Foster Parent Training and Trauma Conferences are this week!

Don’t forget…our monthly foster parent training is this Thursday here at The Arc NCR. Dinner will begin at 5:30 PM and training will begin at 6:00 pm. Please call 410-836-7177 ext. 329 to RSVP or contact your social worker.

Our Halloween Debut

The TFC team had an awesome time with the rest of the Arc NCR bunch. The treats were ghoulishly delicious! We are looking forward to our next event. Parents, if you have any activities that you would like to participate in, please let us know.

Our Kids Rock!

One of our children received a special certificate from his school for being respectful, safe, and responsible toward staff and students. This child continues to do very well in school and has become an inspiration to others.

It is important to acknowledge our children’s victories whether it is getting on the Honor Roll or helping set the table for dinner. Something as simple as helping to set the table is huge for some children…especially shy ones.

Awesome News!

One of our foster care children has made significant progress!  Before coming into The Arc NCR it was challenging to regulate his emotions and behaviors and he had some difficulty interacting with others.

Since coming into care, he has made great strides towards his goals. His teachers report that he has been interacting more and has been making new friends. He is very helpful and is doing well in school overall. We are excited about this good news and are excited about his and our other foster children’s futures.

      Many of our children have already started school. They are meeting up with old friends and making new friends as well. This is an exciting time for them and being prepared is key. Thanks to the generous donations from Riverside Community Church in Aberdeen, MD our children have the tools that they need to succeed. 

      Check out pictures of the backpacks they sent (see picture above). Many of the backpacks have already been given away and they absolutely LOVE them! If you have not picked up your backpack please contact anyone in the Treatment Foster Care department for pickup. You may also pick them up at the Foster Parent training on September 13, 2018.

Way to Go!

One of our TFC children is graduating in June…congrats to him; the sky is truly the limit...good luck!

A TFC child went to regionals and another TFC child went to state regionals on their track teams. Some of our children and families were nominated for awards at different events.

Compliance Rewards

Several of our families are in the running for Compliance Reward gifts including the $25 gift card and our grand prize! Make sure that you remain compliant with parent and child items and come to training whenever possible.

You can earn up to 3 tickets per month. This means that most families can earn a maximum of 9 tickets, dramatically increasing their odds.

Last week we had a wonderful workshop on Diversity. The turnout was great and the activities were lots of fun! We are looking forward to the next training in March.

We have officially announced ‘Compliance Rewards’! We are excited about the new program and hope that our parents will take advantage. Who wouldn’t want to win a gift card and a chance at a yearly grand prize?
